DIGI.DR: Strengthening Digital Citizenship in Slovenian Educational Institutions (2024 – 2026)

Projects

Digital citizenship encompasses a range of competencies that enable individuals to actively, safely and profitably use digital technologies and services. Informed digital citizenship includes ethical and social aspects of using digital technologies, understanding the digital world and some technical skills for using or not using digital technologies.

In the project for the level of preschool education (kindergarten), we are primarily preparing content for the preventive behavior of professionals in the digital world – both themselves and in relation to the parents of children involved in kindergarten. We prepare materials for the use of professionals when working with parents and for planning educational activities, which would be tested and evaluated in the kindergarten for their content usefulness and professional relevance. For primary and secondary schools in the project, in connection with educational planning (educational plans of schools), we prepare preventive content, guidelines and materials, as well as content and approaches in the field of digital citizenship and also specifically media education, which enables pupils and students to develop an understanding of the functioning of the digital media landscape and the skills necessary for critical analysis and responsible use of information, content and communication options in the digital environment. We want to use the prepared examples of content and individual approaches in the practical educational work of schools through the involvement of professional workers in the school and with their cooperation and the active involvement of pupils and students and to evaluate their content usefulness and professional relevance.

The results of the project will help to comprehensively improve the ability of all stakeholders in the education system to better prepare children, pupils and students for active and responsible participation in the digital society. The ultimate goal of the project is to establish a sustainable model that will equip all involved stakeholders with the knowledge and skills necessary for successful operation and responsible participation in the digital society, and the prepared content, guidelines and approaches will be available electronically via the SIO portal to all kindergartens and schools for further use.
